As you can probably tell from my last post here “The Cool Way To Wear Your Cardigan & Tips For Choosing The Best Belt For Your Body Type,” where I styled a short cardigan, the cardigan sweater is definitely going to be a fall staple for me.  The thing I personally love most about cardigans, is that there are so many ways to style it.  Many people feel they can’t pull off a long cardigan, but I believe styling is key.

Long cardigans are great because depending on the weight, and the temperature, they can also serve as a lightweight jacket.  You can wear it layered over other pieces like sweaters and dresses.  If you feel your body type may not be right for a long cardigan, in today’s “Style Guide,” I’m sharing three ways to style a long cardigan that you may like for your body type.

Style Guide:  3 Ways To Style A Long Cardigan

Belt It – If you feel the long cardigan is too heavy or too long for your body type, and/or if you’re petite, one way to style a long cardigan for your body, is to belt it.  This not only minimizes the fabric, but also inserts a break in the fabric to limit the chances of it appearing overbearing for your body.

Wear It Open – If you aren’t comfortable with belting your sweaters, if you’re average height, or tall, and/or if you feel you don’t have a waist, wearing the cardigan open will work best for you.

Wear It Over The Shoulder – For A stylish, layered look that works for all body types, because the piece acts as a jacket or lightweight coat, simply wear the long cardigan over your shoulders.
