To me, nothing speaks a little style to your look like adding a leather piece to your outfit. As much as I’ve loved leather clothing over the years, as more animal-friendly options have become available, I’m also becoming a big fan of vegan leather, an alternative material to real leather. Regardless of your choice of leather material, adding a leather jacket, vest or pants to your look, can certainly give any outfit a chic and stylish feel, and in today’s post, I’m sharing a few ways to wear leather this fall. On a recent trip with my husband, Torrence, to Los Angeles, I decided to add some leather style to my outfit for drinks and dinner.
While in Los Angeles, we stayed at the beautiful Loews Hollywood Hotel, and before heading out to dinner at BOA Steakhouse, we enjoyed a few drinks and live music in the hotel’s lovely lounge. For the evening out, I paired this Banana Republic Printed Hi/Low Tunic with my Piperlime Vegan Leather Pants (similar here). I simply love the high/low hemline on this tunic, to me it adds a little drama to your outfit. I added my Steve Madded ‘Stecy’ sandals, and my Rebecca Minkoff Mini Quilted Affair bag, two essential pieces in my closet, that completes almost any look. It was a very nice evening out, and dinner at BOA was fabulous. I highly recommend this restaurant when visiting Los Angeles. Although it is a steakhouse, there are quite a few amazing seafood selections available as well, and the ambiance and service is perfect.
Now, as the first official day of fall approaches (September, 23rd), and we all began to somewhat transition our wardrobes to more fall friendly wear, I thought it would be a good idea to share a few ways you can wear your leather this fall in today’s “Style Guide”.
Style Guide: Ways To Wear Leather This Fall
Pull Out Your Leather Pants: Leather pants are a great way to ensure your outfit makes a stylish statement. The key to pulling off leather pants is to make sure you select a fit that compliments your body type (trouser styles work well on almost all body type), and to make sure you keep the rest of the look simple and chic. Add some feminine sophistication to your leather pants look with a pair of heels.
Hit Your Fashion Mark In A Leather Midi Skirt: I love a classic midi skirt of any kind, and the leather midi skirt is no exception. Chose a fuller/pleated feminine version for a more classic look and feel, or a more fitted leather midi for a little modern twist. If you want to go all out leather, pair the leather midi with a tucked in leather top for a pulled together look. When doing all leather, I suggest sticking with all black for a classic, seamless outfit.
Throw On A Leather Vest: Adding a leather vest to an outfit, gives any look both structure and style. Pair a leather vest with your skinny jeans, and a white or striped tee, for an effortless look, or put it on with a fitted midi dress to give the dress a polished and finished feel.
Be Cool In Colored Leather: Colored leather is always a popular piece, but styling it properly can pose a challenge. When wearing colored leather, be sure to keep the outfit balanced in color and style. Create some contrast and balance with the color, by pairing a neutral top or sweater with a colored leather pencil skirt, or a add a modern shoe like an ankle boot with the more dressy leather pencil skirt.
Look Magnificent In A Leather Moto Jacket: Try adding some edge to your outfit with a leather moto jacket. You can pair it with a cute dress for a super cool look, or you can put it on with jeans or trousers for a sleek casual outfit.
