Shoes: Ivanka Trump ‘Sophia’ Leopard Calf Hair Platform Pump, Also love these here
During this time of year, it’s always nice to add some red to your outfit, I guess because it’s a major color of the season, and it can definitely add a holiday feel to your look. Even if you’re not a fan of the color on yourself normally, it’s something about this time of year that inspires us all to be a little more festive with our dressing. I personally don’t have a lot of red pieces in my wardrobe, mainly because I usually lean towards a more neutral palette, but if there is ever a time I will pull out the few piece of red I do own, it’s definitely the holiday season.
For this look, I paired my red New York & Company Full Pleated Skirt, with my camel Express Extreme Circle Hem Tunic Sweater (worn previously here), and my BR Camel Double-Breasted Coat. I added my Ivanka Trump ‘Sophia’ Leopard Calf Hair Platform Pumps, and my Michael Kors ‘Cindy’ Large Crossbody bag. I love pairing neutrals with pops of color, because it causes somewhat of a nice conflicting dynamic. The neutrals give the overall look a softer feel, while also allowing the pop of color to stand out. Because incorporating red into your wardrobe isn’t always an easy task, and since the holidays are a time when we all might be wearing a little more red than normal, I thought in today’s “Style Guide”, I would share a few ways to wear your red.
Style Guide: Ways To Wear Your Red
Wear Red As An Accessory – If you’re just not sure about red clothing on you yet, incorporate this powerful pop of color in an accessory, like a bag or scarf.
Pair Red With Neutrals – If you feel that wearing red will over power you or your look, simply pair it with neutrals like white, camel, black or even gray. These colors will add a nice softness to your red and add some balance of color.
Wear Red In A Plaid Or Print – If you’re just easing into wearing red, a great way to incorporate the color into your look is by wearing it in a plaid or print top or scarf.
Be Bold With Your Red – If red is your color, be bold, and wear your red as a coat, jacket, dress, skirt or pants. The key to pulling it off successfully is to keep the rest of the look classic and somewhat simple with neutral accessories.
I hope these “Style Guide” tips have given you a few ideas for wearing your red.
