The Look For Less:
This week on the blog, I’m featuring stripes worn in a variety of ways. The stripe print is very classic, fashionable, and so on trend this season, you will see it everywhere. If you tend to shy away from wearing stripes, today, I’m sharing a few tips on wearing this popular print.
I wore this Ann Taylor Striped Tiered Maxi Dress to a cookout recently, and I wanted to be sure to share it on the blog. This dress is the perfect summer dress, because it can be styled for a casual or more dressed event. The dress can also easily transition from day to evening, and it can even double as a swimsuit cover up or simple vacation resort wear. For the cookout, I paired the dress with these oh, so comfortable Ann Taylor Kellen Exotic Embossed Slides in classic tan. I added the White House Black Market Straw Clutch, because the wristlet strap makes it easy to carry, and it is the perfect size to tuck away in a tote bag as well.
To help you look and feel fabulous in stripes, in today’s “Style Guide,” I’ll give you a few tips for wearing the stripe print.
Style Guide: Tips For Wearing Stripes All Over
Go Vertical – Vertical stripes tend to favor all body types, and also help to elongate and lengthen the body.
Keep Stripe Sizes In Proportion With Your Body Type – Thin stripes seem to work well on everyone, however, if you want to experiment with stripe sizes, it’s important to keep them in proportion with your body type. Taller bodies can definitely pull off bigger and bolder stripes, and more petite body types will find thinner stripes work best.
Choose Stripe Colors Wisely – With bright and neon colors becoming popular these days, keep in mind they may not work so well in a striped print. Stick with the more traditional stripe colors (blues, black, gray) with white.
Go Low Key With All Over Stripes – When wearing stripes all over, stick with more classic or muted colors, and look for stripes that are thin and not too bold or large.
These are just a few tips for wearing stripes all over. I hope they are helpful, and they get you excited about wearing this classic trend that doesn’t appear to be going anywhere soon.
